Two Days To Go (Or, Can You Smell The CONCACAF?)
It’s the day that most TFC supporters (like myself) have been waiting for — and it couldn’t have arrived at a better time. In two days, 45,000 will be packing the Skydome (or Rogers Centre, if you so prefer) for the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals.
While it’s going to be understandable that some in the audience (you know who you are) who will be looking at Beck’s assets instead of the match itself, TFC’s supporters’ groups are already promising an all-out display in the stands to help the Reds leave for LA with an advantage. While I won’t give anything away, all I can say is…whatever you’ve seen from the TV from BMO, was child’s play.
The team has already organized a supporters’ march from Maple Leaf Square to Skydome before the match — and it promises to be big. There’s been big rallies before, but this promises to be huge. I, for one, can’t wait.
On the field Toronto-wise, everything is ready to go. Both our stars from last year (Danny Koevermans and captain Torsten Frings) have been bolstered by the likes of newcomers like Superdraftee Luis Silva — heck, it’s the most complete lineup we’ve had carried over from a previous season since…ever. So if you see a TFC supporter feeling a little bit more confidence, there’s your reason.
So do your worst, Los Angeles — but be prepared to face a Toronto that you have never seen before!
(P.S. I will be in LA for the second leg — so keep it locked here and at SBNation’s Waking The Red for detailed coverage (and other fun snippets) for that match! It promises to be a rocking two-legged affair!)
