Austin da Luz Named NASL Humanitarian of the Year

Playing for Pride founder Austin da Luz has been named the 2017 NASL Humanitarian of the Year.

The North Carolina FC midfielder began the fundraising initiative this season after a rough year for LGBT rights in his state.

Playing for Pride has raised over $13,000 this season from players and fans donating dollar amounts for games played and started as well as assists and goals. Players from MLS, NWSL, NASL, and USL are all participating. The money raised is going toward the work of the Human Rights Campaign.

The work isn’t done yet. You can join Austin da Luz and Playing for Pride at their Crowdrise page.
